Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need a tune-up?
From the young to the old and from the fit to the sedentary everyone needs a tune-up! Just as your car needs a regular tune-up so do you. A tuneup is essential to improving your function. Pain, fatigue, sleeplessness and depression are symptoms of bodily dysfunction and stress overload. A tune up immediately restores the body to a more functional state so you look and feel alive again!
What is acupressure?
Acupressure manipulates the same points as acupuncture and achieves the the same powerful results but uses pressure instead of needles. As a result, it is less invasive and has no risks associated with the use of needles. The acupressure points chosen for MyoTonix treatment are determined by the muscle imbalance in the body rather than the symptoms described.
Are the benefits gained permanent?
Yes! Acupressure unlike massage or most other types of therapy has a cumulative effect - the more it is done, the better the you get.
How can you guarantee your results?
We can guarantee our results because of the unique approach we take to health and wellness. If you can improve a person's posture you can improve their entire function - essentially every cell in the body will work better.
Can I use FSA or HSA funds to pay for sessions?
Yes! If you make contributions to a FSA or HSA you can use the pre-tax dollars you contribute to the account for sessions.
Remember a tune-up involves using Myotonix to complement corrective exercise to improve posture and function.
The essential requirement is that you receive an "exercise prescription" for a specific condition from a licenced healthcare provider such as a doctor, chiropractor, acupuncturist, naturopath or osteopath*.
The prescription will be very similar to a pharmaceutical RX in that the Exercise RX will typically list:
“For treatment of low back pain, corrective exercise/core strength training, 3 times a week for 6 months”.
Many clients pony up an exercise prescription request with a regular office visit.
*The IRS considers two kinds of eligible expenses - eligible and potentially eligible expenses.
Typical services such as pharmacy expenses and doctor visits are considered eligible, however other expenses such as corrective exercise is considered potentially eligible - that is requiring a letter of necessity from a licensed healthcare provider.
So in such an instance, you will need to pay out-of-pocket for the sessions and then seek reimbursement from your HSA.
N.B. Hold onto the RX with your tax documents!
Do you take insurance?
No. We do not take insurance as we do not do what is classified as "physical therapy". Insurance usually requires coverage for therapy to be provided for by a physical therapist.
Can acupressure help chronic pain?
Yes. Acupressure is highly effective at relieving and even eliminating chronic pain and even improves athletic performance and muscle strength and flexibility.
How many tune-ups will I need?
It depends on how much you want to improve your function since acupressure has a cumulative effect. Since most people have some or other dysfunctional condition, we recommend a purchase of at least five sessions.
How does your technique compare to ART, Bowen Technique and Chiropractic treatments?
While there are some similarities between them, Myotonix is different from Active Release Techniques or ART and Bowen Technique. Clients that have experienced all three techniques concede that acupressure is more effective and has longer lasting benefits.
